what the...

We interrupt our regularly scheduled blogging to freak out just a little bit...

I just have to say, what-the-who is going on here?

I'm having major computer issues - one is dying a sad and messy death. The other, the back-up, is a laptop, and not sufficient for dealing with photos. At least it still knows how to load a browser window and allow me to type.

And... the clothes dryer is broken. Laundry is draped all over the living room because if we hang it outside, it will freeze and break. Snappo! Two twin sheets instead of a king!

And... I washed my passport, so I have to replace it. I'll lose all my lovely visa stamps from Ethiopia.

And... Rick is sick. He caught some kind of African Crud while we were there, and it turned into a sinus infection somewhere over the Atlantic. His head hurts, his ear hurts, he has no oomph, and yes, he's taking turbo antibiotics as well as herbal goodies, so I guess we just have to be patient... and yes, I know this is a terrible run-on sentence.

Patience... NOW!

I realize, from very recent first-hand experience, that there are many, many people in the world with real problems. At this very moment I'm telling myself to snap out of it. I just needed to vent a little bit today. Sorry! I hope you've stopped reading by now! Re-entry is actually much more difficult than I've been letting on...
I'll be back tomorrow with more on Ethiopia. Promise. Unless the computer does some new stinky trick...

OK. I'm done. Have a lovely day.

~~~~~ UPDATE!~~~~~
The very next day, little miracles started to happen. Why? I dunno. But Rick was able to fix the dryer by finding a mysterious reset button. And while he was doing that, I fixed the computer. I got a "clue" from the laptop, when it popped open a "wrong" window, telling me where to find the hidden "firefox.exe file" that was causing all the trouble in the other computer. It took five minutes to fix it once I knew where to look, and that was after our computer guy had declared it terminal. And best of all, Rick is feeling much, much better. We think it's a cluster of little Christmas Miracles. Maybe it's related to the fact that we just registered our very own non-profit, and named it the "Milagro Network". For those who don't speak Spanish, milagro means miracle. More on all that later. For now, things are lookin' good... except for my passport, but it can be replaced, and if I'm lucky, I'll get to keep this one too.
Big Thanks to Whoever-Whatever is looking out for us. We got the hints!
It's okay to feel that way. An reentry/learning is really really hard work, if you actually care and are aware. Good friends who travel internationally a lot tell me that they plan on time equal to the trip to "recover" and that's for easy trips.
Take real good care of each other--salt water is the cure. 1 cup of warm water with 1/4 teaspoon of kosher salt, pinch of baking soda to rinse out the sinuses (I recycle the salt bottles you can buy at the store.)
it's wonderful!
It is cosmic honey because it is happening here too! Take comfort in knowing we are all in this together!
Although it stinks to get sick, at least it happened on *this* side of the ocean!
That salt remedy works, but I only did it once...*once*...cuz it hurt like the dickens!!!!!!
Take care love,
I do not think that you have to worry about your stamps. If they made it through the washer have no fear. You get the old Passport back with a whole punched through the thing so you get to keep it. At least that is how it was with my old one, I hope that it is still true.
